Modern Songs on Depression

1. How To Save a Life by the Fray

Lay down a list of what is wrong
The things you've told him all along
And pray to God he hears you
And pray to God he hears you

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

As he begins to raise his voice
You lower yours and grant him one last choice
Drive until you lose the road
Or break with the ones you've followed
He will do one of two things
He will admit to everything
Or he'll say he's just not the same
And you'll begin to wonder why you came

2. It Ends Tonight by the All-American Rejects

Your subtleties, They strangle me
I can't explain myself at all
And all the wants, And all the needs
All I don't want to need at all

The walls start breathing, My mind's unweaving
Maybe it's best you leave me alone
A weight is lifted On this evening
I give the final blow

When darkness turns to light,
It ends tonight, It ends tonight.

3. One Last Breath by Creed

Please, come now, I think I'm falling
I'm holding to all I think is safe
It seems I found the road to nowhere
And I'm trying to escape
I yelled back when I heard thunder
But I'm down to one last breath
And with it let me say, Let me say

Hold me now
I'm six feet from the edge and I'm thinking
That maybe six feet Ain't so far down

4. Acoustic #3 by the Goo Goo Dolls.

They painted up your secrets With the lies they told to you
And the least they ever gave you
Was the most you ever knew

And I wonder where these dreams go
When the world gets in your way
What's the point in all this screaming
No one's listening anyway

Your voice is small and fading
And you hide in here unknown
And your mother loves your father
'Cause she's got nowhere to go

And she wonders where these dreams go
'Cause the world got in her way
What's the point in ever trying
Nothing's changing anyway

They press their lips against you
And you love the lies they say
And I tried so hard to reach you But you're falling anyway

And you know I see right through you
When the world gets in your way
What's the point in all this screamin'
You're not listening anyway

5. Feel the Silence by the Goo Goo Dolls

You lie awake at night With blue eyes that never cry
All you remember now Is what you feel

The truth remains In midnight conversations
I asked for this moment But you turned away

Sad like a lonely child, Broken the day you're born
I held the light to you, But I was so vain

And you remain A promise unfulfilled
I ask you for more But you push me away

And if we feel the silence
Holding this all inside us
Everything means more now than Words could explain
And if we feel the silence
Leaving this all behind us
Looking for something more to say

6. Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls

And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything seems like the movies
Yeah you bleed just to know your alive

And I don't want the world to see me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

7. Bells of Freedom by Bon Jovi

I have walked all alone On these streets, I call home
Streets of hope, streets of fear
Through the sidewalk cracks, Time disappears
I was lost, on my knees On the eve of defeat
As i choked back the tears
There's a silent scream no-one could hear

So far away from everything, you know it's true
Something inside that makes you know
What you've got to do

Ring the bells, ring them loud
Let them ring here and now
Just reach out and ring the bells of freedom
When your world's crashing down
Like you've lost every round
Stand your ground And ring the bells of freedom

8. I Am by Bon Jovi

How you spend your minutes are what matters
All tomorrows come from yesterday's
When you're feeling broke and bruised
And sometimes shattered
Blew out the candles on the cake
Like everything's a big mistake
It seems you always wait for life to happen
And your last buck can't buy a lucky break
If all we've got is us then life's worth living
And if you're in, you know I'm in, I'm ready and I'm willing

I Am, When you think that no-one needs you
Sees you or believes you, No ones there to understand
I Am, I'll be there to be that someone
When you think that no one, is there to hold your hand, I Am

9. Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day

I walk a lonely road, The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes,
But it's home to me and I walk alone

I walk this empty street On the Boulevard of broken dreams
Where the city sleeps And I'm the only one and I walk alone

My shadows the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Til then I'll walk alone

10. Hear You Me by Jimmy Eat World

There's no one in town I know,
You gave us some place to go.
I never said thank you for that
I thought I might get one more chance.
What would you think of me now,
so lucky, so strong, so proud?
I never said thank you for that, now I'll never have a chance.
May angels lead you in. Hear you me my friends.
On sleepless roads the sleepless go.
May angels lead you in.

11. Maybe Broken by Lifehouse

And I am here still waiting, Though I still have my doubts
I am damaged at best Like you've already figured out

I'm falling apart, I'm barely breathing
With a broken heart That's still beating
In the pain, There is healing
In your name, I find meaning
So I'm holding on (I'm holdin on)(I'm holdin on)
I'm barely holding on to you

12. Numb by Linkin Park

I'm tired of being what you want me to be
Feeling so faithless lost under the surface
Don't know what you're expecting of me
Put under the pressure of walking in your shoes
(Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow)
Every step that I take is another mistake to you
(Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow)

I've become so numb I can't feel you there
I've become so tired so much more aware
I've becoming this all I want to do
Is be more like me and be less like you

Can't you see that you're smothering me
Holding too tightly afraid to lose control
Cause everything that you thought I would be
Has fallen apart right in front of you

13. Crawling by Linkin Park

Crawling in my skin, These wounds they will not heal
Fear is how I fall, Confusing what is real

There's something inside me that pulls beneath the surface
This lack of self-control I fear is never ending
Controlling/I can't seem

To find myself again, My walls are closing in
(without a sense of confidence and I'm convinced that there's just too much pressure to take)
I've felt this way before, So insecure

14. Maybe Savin' Me by Nickelback

Prison gates won't open up for me
On these hands and knees I'm crawlin'
Oh, I reach for you
Well I'm terrified of these four walls
These iron bars can't hold my soul in
All I need is you, Come please I'm callin'
And oh I scream for you, Hurry I'm fallin', I'm fallin'

Show me what it's like To be the last one standing
And teach me wrong from right
And I'll show you what I can be
Say it for me, Say it to me
And I'll leave this life behind me
Say it if it's worth saving me

14. Scars by Papa Roach

I tear my heart open, I sew myself shut
My weakness is that I care too much
And our scars remind us that the past is real
I tear my heart open just to feel

15. Crash and Burn by Savage Garden

When you feel all alone
And the world has turned it's back on you
Give me a moment please to tame your wild wild heart
I know you feel like the walls are closing in on you
It's hard to find relieve and people can be so cold
When darkness is upon your door and you feel like you can't take anymore

Let me be the one you call, If you jump I'll break your fall
Lift you up and fly away with you into the night
If you need to fall apart, I can mend a broken heart
If you need to crash then crash and burn, You're not alone

When you feel all alone, And a loyal friend is hard to find
You're caught in a one way street
With the monsters in your head
When hopes and dreams are far away and
You feel like you can't face the day

16. Welcome to My Life by Simple Plan

Do you ever feel like breaking down?
Do you ever feel out of place?
Like somehow you just don't belong
And no one understands you
Do you ever wanna runaway?
Do you lock yourself in your room?
With the radio on turned up so loud
That no one hears you screaming

No you don't know what it's like, When nothing feels all right
You don't know what it's like, To be like me

To be hurt, To feel lost, To be left out in the dark
To be kicked when you're down
To feel like you've been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
And no one's there to save you
No you don't know what it's like, Welcome to my life

17. Dare You To Move by Switchfoot

Welcome to the planet, Welcome to existence
Everyone's here, Everyone's here
Everybody's watching you now, Everybody waits for you now
What happens next, What happens next

I dare you to move, I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move, I dare you to move
Like today never happened, Today never happened before

Welcome to the fallout, Welcome to resistance
The tension is here, Tension is here
Between who you are and who you could be
Between how it is and how it should be

18. Right Here by Staind

I know I've been mistaken
But just give me a break and see the changes that I've made
I've got some imperfections
But how can you collect them all and throw them in my face

But you always find a way to keep me right here waiting
You always find the words to say
To keep me right here waiting
And if you chose to walk away I'd still be right here waiting
Searching for the things to say to keep you right here waiting

I hope you're not intending
To be so condescending it's as much as i can take
and you're so independent
you just refuse to bend so I keep bending till I break

19. Wonderful by Everclear

I close my eyes when I get too sad,
I think thoughts that I know are bad
Close my eyes and I count to ten,
Hope its over when I open them

I want the things that I had before
Like a star wars poster on my bedroom door
I wish I could count to ten,
Make everything be wonderful again

Hope my mom and I hope my dad
Will figure out why they get so mad
Hear them scream, I hear them fight
They say bad words that make me wanna cry

Close my eyes when I go to bed
And I dream of angels who make me smile
I feel better when I hear them say
Everything will be wonderful someday

Promises mean everything when you're little
And the worlds so big, I just don't understand how
You can smile with all those tears in your eyes
Tell me everything is wonderful now

Please don't tell me everything is wonderful now

I go to school and I run and play
I tell the kids that its all okay
I laugh aloud so my friends wont know
When the bell rings I just don't wanna go home

Go to my room and I close my eyes
I make believe that I have a new life
I don't believe you when you say
Everything will be wonderful someday

20. Maybe Never Too Late by Three Days Grace

This world will never be what I expected
And if I don't belong, who would have guessed it
I will not leave alone everything that I own
To make you feel like it's not too late, It's never too late
Even if I say It'll be alright
Still I hear you say You want to end your life
Now and again we try To just stay alive
Maybe we'll turn it all around
'Cause it's not too late, It's never too late

Opiate Detox

Opiate detox process can be really tough on anyone. The reason that the opiate detox process is so hard is because opiate addiction affects you physically and psychologically. When you go through the opiate detox process, you are putting stress on your mind and your body. These days, there are a number of different treatment options that are available to those that seek them out, however you need to make sure that you look at all of your choices before you commit to an exact course of action. In the past, hospitalization was the most common treatment for addiction, followed by inpatient rehab. Until now, the twenty-eight day rehab programs have been the accepted protocol for actually treating the addiction. These programs are a port in the storm for the addict who is. It wasn’t until the recent medical breakthroughs in opiate detox that the patients entered into rehab after a month or two in detox, in which they followed the rules and then succeeded at staying clean while they were inside. However, these centers have a really bad relapse rate at eighty five percent. Abstinence away from drugs is not an easy task to accomplish but it is possible within the walls of Cliffside Malibu.

Drug Treatment and Addiction Recovery

It should perhaps go without saying that sober living can only be an effective conduit to addiction recovery if it’s preceded by competent drug treatment. And make no mistake: You can’t beat drug addiction without help. Getting sober means checking yourself into a drug rehab center, and trusting the wisdom of your drug rehab program. At the same time, though, addiction treatment is ultimately only as successful as its patients make it, and your own agency, in sober living and in drug rehab proper, will and must be instrumental in the recovery process.

It’s worth noting here that no two drug rehab programs or drug treatment centers are exactly alike. Before sober living can help you achieve long-term addiction recovery, you’ve got to find a drug rehab facility that’s right for you: a drug rehab facility that can cater to your specific needs, and be mindful of your individual interests. In the fight against drug addiction, anything less than the most intimate drug rehab plan couldn’t ever be good enough.

But how can you know whether a drug rehab center or sober living facility is really interested in safeguarding your best interests? The short answer is that rightness is ultimately a matter of feel: A drug rehab center or sober living facility is the right one for you if it feels like the right one, if you walk through the front entrance and get a sense that you’ve come home.

Of course, that’s a lot of abstraction without much concrete advice. The fact of the matter, really, is that you’ll know the right drug rehab center or sober living facility when you find it. At Cliffside Malibu, we’re in the business of “ah-ha” moments: of taking prospective patients on a tour of our grounds and waiting to see that flash of recognition in their eyes, when they realize they’ve come to what is and could only ever be the “right” place. It is, to the say least, quite an experience. We can only hope we’ll get to share it with you. (article courtesy of Cliffside Malibu)
