They often believe that if they lose weight they will gain self confidence and feel better about themselves. Unfortunately, that is not what happens. In order to become the person that you are dreaming of being it will require a lot of hard work; you will have to have achievements and successful problem solving skills. There are no short cuts on this road and becoming the kind of person that you dream of being does not happen by being unhealthy. What will happen instead is poor health, severed relationships, being depressed, obsessed, anxious, guilty, and self-loathing. There surely are very many beautiful human beings in this world but what is on the outside is really what is the least important. In order to be successful and filled with confidence you must make a lasting impact on people you meet. You must make a strong physical presence. Be intelligent, funny, and filled with life. Be reliable, confident, strong, and competent. Respect yourself and in turn you will be respected. These are the tools that we will provide you with in our Eating Disorder Treatments, this is our goal. When you have an eating disorder you need to reach out for Eating Disorder Treatment as soon as possible. Here you will be taught how to live healthy and peacefully with yourself and with food. Only qualified health professionals that have experience in eating disorders will be part of your treatment plan. Most of the time, inpatient treatment programs are used as a last resort, but people with eating disorders need to be treated on an inpatient basis. This is the first line approach for treatment in most cases and works even better in the beginning. Most eating disorders do not require hospitalization unless you are unstable medically or show signs of being suicidal. While hospitalization may not be required most people with eating disorders do require constant supervision and extensive treatment.
(Article courtesy of Cliffside Malibu)

Finding Effective Drug Treatment Programs In America

[Malibu, CA] - Cliffside Malibu, prestigious residential drug treatment facilities on the Malibu coast, has long been a leading light in the California treatment community. Now, the center is pleased to announce its renewed commitment to providing its clients with superior sober living services in the wake of their primary luxury alcohol rehab program.

The healing process doesn't end on the last day of primary rehab. On the contrary, patients need continuing support in order to develop the life skills and self-esteem on which all lasting recovery must be built. The most effective drug treatment programs, then, are those which provide the best aftercare services to their clients. Of these services, none is more important than a supportive sober living program.

Those principles, in turn, are the bedrock of Cliffside Malibu's treatment philosophy.

Cliffside Malibu is respected both for the quality of its caregivers and the elegance of its amenities. Since its founding, our effective drug treatment programs have been the choice of upscale clients seeking expert treatment in a discreet luxury environment. As the center prepares to launch its new initiative, those clients can expect to be even better served on the road to recovery.

"We pride ourselves on providing our clients with the best possible drug treatment experience," said a representative from Cliffside Malibu's clinical team. "Our luxurious sober living facility is an essential part of that experience, especially insofar as it helps residents prepare for the challenges of day-to-day living in a substance-free world."

Unfortunately, that sort of long-term thinking is precisely what distinguishes Cliffside from its competitors

Many private treatment facilities offer a primary drug treatment programs to their clients. But only the most elite and effective drug treatment programs invest sufficient resources in their sober living services. In fact, many of the most well-known drug treatment programs in Los Angeles provide marginal or even inferior sober living options for their residents. Unsurprisingly, those facilities routinely fall short of the promises they make in their advertising brochures.

For recovery patients and their families, say Cliffside administrators, that sort of failure is unacceptable.

"Primary drug treatment is the beginning of the healing process, not the end," said another Cliffside clinician. "At Cliffside Malibu, we understand that our clients trust us to help them get better forever, and we do everything in our power to do exactly that. Our commitment to sober living is a product of that underlying philosophy."

It's relatively easy to find effective drug treatment programs in Los Angeles for short term recovery. It's much harder, though, to find a luxury drug rehab facility offering norco treatment that genuinely cares about the long-term health of its clients. The caregivers at Cliffside Malibu are remarkable both for their professional expertise and for their personal passion. As Cliffside's successful graduates have learned firsthand, that combination can make all the difference in the world.

*

Cliffside Malibu is a recovery facility specializing in norco treatment in Malibu, California. Like every other individual you deserve to get your self-esteem and dignity back. This will not happen unless you make the decision to enroll in alcohol abuse rehab. Battling an alcohol addition is impossible without professional help. The reason that the opiate detox process is so hard is because opiate addiction affects you physically and psychologically. When you go through the opiate detox process, you are putting stress on your mind and your body. These days, there are a number of different treatment options that are available to those that seek them out, however you need to make sure that you look at all of your choices before you commit to an exact course of action. In the past, hospitalization was the most common treatment for addiction, followed by inpatient rehab. Until now, the twenty-eight day rehab programs have been the accepted protocol for actually treating the addiction. These programs are a port in the storm for the addict who is. It wasn’t until the recent medical breakthroughs in opiate detox that the patients entered into rehab after a month or two in detox, in which they followed the rules and then succeeded at staying clean while they were inside. However, these centers have a really bad relapse rate at eighty five percent. Abstinence away from drugs is not an easy task to accomplish but it is possible within the walls of Cliffside Malibu.
Article courtesy of Cliffside Malibu.

What can Cliffside Malibu do to help you overcome your gambling addiction?

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 237px; height: 246px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_lwofwioufj0/S8Sr3ROEemI/AAAAAAAAAH8/6odIGmOJyqM/s320/gambling1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5459677614283455074" />
If you or someone you love suffers from a gambling addiction, Cliffside Malibu can help; if the measure is required, we can even assist in staging an intervention. And make no mistake: You can’t beat drug addiction without help. Getting sober means checking yourself into a drug rehab center, and trusting the wisdom of your drug rehab program. At the same time, though, addiction treatment is ultimately only as successful as its patients make it, and your own agency, in sober living and in drug rehab proper, will and must be instrumental in the recovery process.

It’s worth noting here that no two drug rehab programs or drug treatment centers are exactly alike. Before sober living can help you achieve long-term addiction recovery, you’ve got to find a drug rehab facility that’s right for you: a drug rehab facility that can cater to your specific needs, and be mindful of your individual interests. In the fight against drug addiction, anything less than the most intimate drug rehab plan couldn’t ever be good enough.

But how can you know whether a drug rehab center or sober living facility is really interested in safeguarding your best interests? The short answer is that rightness is ultimately a matter of feel: A drug rehab center or sober living facility is the right one for you if it feels like the right one, if you walk through the front entrance and get a sense that you’ve come home.

Of course, that’s a lot of abstraction without much concrete advice. The fact of the matter, really, is that you’ll know the right drug rehab center or sober living facility when you find it. At Cliffside Malibu, we’re in the business of “ah-ha” moments: of taking prospective patients on a tour of our grounds and waiting to see that flash of recognition in their eyes, when they realize they’ve come to what is and could only ever be the “right” place. It is, to the say least, quite an experience. We can only hope we’ll get to share it with you. We understand the difficulty and discomfort associated with the initial detox period when treating opiate addictions and have designed the residence at Cliffside Malibu to be as welcoming and comfortable for patients as possible..."(Cliffside Malibu)

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 226px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_lwofwioufj0/S6kewQy1dWI/AAAAAAAAAHE/UAJnRjUVyUY/s320/Utilitarian_Drug_by_lolitaphotography.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451922638399436130" />"All facts conclude that there is no easy cure nor guarantee that relapse will not occur. The determination of the patient and support through family, friends, physicians or other sources must accompany the detoxification process...the best-documented drug-free treatments are the therapeutic community residential programs" (Addiction Research) and not rapid detox programs which have no proven track record of working as well as having a higher mortality rate its a wonder why these programs have gained so much popularity.

While "with an emphasis on personal attention, Cliffside Malibu’s opiates detox program offers close monitoring of patient progress and individualized treatment. Each patient is assigned to a primary therapist on checking in and that therapist works closely with the patient for the duration of his or her stay. Our supportive clinical staff oversees the opiates detox program, treating each patient to relieve any physical withdrawal symptoms. In addiction to clinical treatment, the opiates detox program includes group and individual therapies –both traditional and alternative- tailored to address any underlying causes for the drug addiction." Addiction recovery necessarily entails an engagement with the facts, and hinges upon an addict’s ability to overcome the “blindness” associated with the disease.

Drug addiction, we should note at the outset, is a clinical disease: a chronic condition with discrete and identifiable causes that trumps anything we might understand as individual will or personal agency. Drug addicts, in other words, don’t choose to be drug addicts, same as diabetics don’t choose to be diabetics. Drug addiction is so hard to overcome precisely because it infects the entire scope of an addicts being, and strips him of volitional control over himself and his actions.

It’s that sort of comprehensive or holistic affliction that engenders a sort of addiction “blindness”: a self-centric myopia that prevents addicts from honestly and rationally assessing their behavior. A drug addict is “blind” in the sense that he can’t see anything but his own sense of need, and the drug that might sate it; substance abuse shuts out all but the light of a chemical high, leaving addicts to grope about in a darkness from which only drug use and abuse offer any hope of escape.

What all that means, in practical terms, is that addicts rarely understand the trouble they’re in until it’s already to late. Put another way, addicts often don’t even know they’re addicts…not until someone tells them, that is. The role of an intervention, in this sense, is to make addicts see their sickness, and to make addicts want to get better. In the end, it’s only that desire which can ensure the ultimate effectiveness of any drug rehab program.
(Article courtesy of Cliffside Malibu)

Unitl It Sleeps By: Metallica

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 314px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_lwofwioufj0/S5USHVCvRdI/AAAAAAAAAGU/gRf1lUN69EI/s320/load-album-cover.preview.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5446279241491498450" />
Where do I take this pain of mine
I run but it stays right by my side

So tear me open and pour me out
There's things inside that scream and shout
And the pain still hates me
So hold me until it sleeps

Just like the curse, just like the stray
You feed it once and now it stays
Now it stays

So tear me open but beware
There's things inside without a care
And the dirt still stains me
So wash me until I'm clean

It grips you so hold me
It stains you so hold me
It hates you so hold me
It holds you so hold me
Until it sleeps

So tell me why you've chosen me
Don't want your grip, don't want your greed
Don't want it

I'll tear me open make you gone
No more can you hurt anyone
And the fear still shakes me
So hold me, until it sleeps

It grips you so hold me
It stains you so hold me
It hates you so hold me
It holds you, holds you, holds you
until it sleeps (x4)

I don't want it, I don't want it, want it, want it, want it, want it, noo..

So tear me open but beware
There's things inside without a care
And the dirt still stains me
So wash me 'till I'm clean

I'll tear me open make you gone
No longer will you hurt anyone
And the hate still shames me
So hold me
until it sleeps (x5)

(**EDITORS NOTE: When I sat and listened to this song, the realization of the depths of pain that they had suffered due to their drug addiction becomes very clear. I am picking up where I left off, got my GED, taking some college courses; I want to be a nurse or something that will let me help others who are stuck in their own holes. I want to be that hand they grab onto to lift themselves up and out into the light.

No More Locked Doors

<img style="float:left; Prescription drugs pose a unique problem when going through drug detox programs, as some treatment centers will use medicine to help ease the withdrawal symptoms or treat other mental disorders. This poses a problem because if you are attending prescription drug detox, then you are already addicted to prescription drugs and there is a chance that your addiction could transfer to the medicine being used in your detox programs. This is why it is important to choose a prescription drug detox center that offers a variety of programs so that you can successfully recover from your addiction.

Cliffside Malibu is the best treatment center for prescription drug detox, as we offer a variety of holistic drug treatments. There is so much out there to help guide and inspire someone. So I thought I would bring some of that here to help you. I found some interesting facts about adolescent eating disorders:
*Anorexia is the third most common chronic illness among adolescents.
*40 – 60% of high school girls diet.
*50% of girls between the ages of 13 and 15 believe they are overweight.
(Facts from Anorexia Statistics)
And I fell right into it, at age 16 I weighed 96lbs. <img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 248px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_lwofwioufj0/S3B2595M3UI/AAAAAAAAADM/T1eLEy56FDo/s320/fat-skinny_twins.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5435975488475290946" />I found a story close to my own which helps me realize that I am not the only one out there:

I was a chubby child growing up with a perfectly skinny twin sister. She seemed to receive all my parents and our peers' attention because she was thin. I felt ignored which developed my shyness. She dominated in almost everything that we did together. I thought that going on a diet would increase my self-esteem and get people to notice me. I did not starve myself, but I would limit my caloric intake to about eight hundred calories.

I would eat a bowl of cereal for breakfast so my parents would think I was eating properly. I wouldn't eat lunch. I'd make up excuses like I either did not have any money or I was not hungry and I would eat later. After school I would go to tennis practice on an empty stomach and exercise as much as I could for two hours.

My family always ate dinner together, so I would eat a full meal to keep everybody from assuming that I had an eating disorder. I'd always tell my mom that certain items were too fattening and I couldn't eat them.

The strange thing was that when I lost the weight people would give me the nicest compliments. The compliments felt so good, so I kept dieting. Those compliments were my reward for my control. <img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 200px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_lwofwioufj0/S3B5Zfx9wXI/AAAAAAAAADU/Pi4z0mzBn5w/s320/anorexia.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5435978229170946418" />They pushed me to diet more and lose more weight so I could get all the attention that a skinny person receives.

Eventually, my parents and friends noticed my bad eating habits. They forced me to eat and would not leave my side. I denied my eating problem for a long time, not even admitting it to my boyfriend until last year. I received a lot of support from my boyfriend, which I think helped me through my problem.

With terrific support from my friends and family, I now try to have a balanced diet instead of getting the fewest calories possible. I now feel more confident about my body and have a higher self-esteem.
Andrea's Story and more available at Anorexia Stories

I was also able to hide my problem for a long time...until I lost too much weight. Everywhere I turned skinny was good and fat was bad. When I turned on the TV that's all I'd hear so the little voice in my head repeated it. The little voice became my enemy. When I finally admitted my problem, I was backed by my sister and my now fiance. They helped me find a great place to go and learn how to fix me. I am recovering from anorexia nervosa and am very proud of my accomplishments thus far. I am now 25 years old, 135lbs at 5'6". I am healthy and I am happy. And that little voice, she's my friend too. She's strong and tells me I'm beautiful. She repeats what the good people in my life say. She is no longer influenced by the media.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 278px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_lwofwioufj0/S3B5jV8xK8I/AAAAAAAAADc/_QPydy5fn-8/s320/happy_sign.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5435978398330596290" />

Sober Life is yet to come....

It is one of the most beautiful compensations in life that no man can sincerely try to help another, without helping himself. -- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Such lessons are not taught to us in school or by our parents who desperately try to shelter us from the evils of the world, these lessons are learned the hard way out in the real world where things get messy.

Nobody grows up thinking to themselves how can I really screw life up and piss my parents off? Yea, we are all teenagers and think that's what we want but it never really is. And yet a few of us actually manage to do just that.

Ask yourself, was it worth it? All the pain? The suffering? The friend's you lost? The dreams you had now gone?

Probably not....Defiantly not. And if you hesitated then you haven't hit the bottom yet, do you really want to? I did. Let me tell you, you don't want to.

I wish I had seen what was coming. Now I am a spokesperson for sobering up and leading a life on the straight and narrow, being the person I wish I had when I was younger. Sober Living is something everybody needs to learn. The school's try but they don't portray the life style as it really is. Its dark, lonely, scary and is a long black tunnel of emptiness.<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_lwofwioufj0/S2eXjLwRc-I/AAAAAAAAACc/RODDYE8tHlQ/s320/buzzle.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5433478106152268770" />

As part of my drive to help people headed down this road or those already on this path I have learned of Sober Living Facilities and their benefits to help people before they get here.

This is where I started my journey to sober living. Sober living at Malibu was the singular greatest experience of my life. Finding a place like that, that inspires you to rise above it all is what really counts.

"I will persist until I succeed. Always will I take another step. Stay in school, no sex til you're older, say no to drugs. Unfortunately for my friend her daughter didn't follow all of mommies rules.
By 16 she was sleeping around and smoking weed after school with her 'friends'. My friend managed to keep her daughter in school long enough to graduate, and amazingly she graduated with a B average.
But once the child turned 18, mom lost all control. Lauren moved out in with her boyfriend musician, she rarely came home unless they were fighting.
My friend soon discovered Lauren's addiction to Meth. And she pleaded every case under the sun to convince her to quit and get help.
Lauren's lesson was learned the hard way, she got pregnant and when her boyfriend found out he left her. Lauren moved back in with her mom but couldn't kick the habit.
When Lauren was 7months along her mom came home and found her passed out on the living room floor. Lauren had gone into a coma. She gave birth to a baby boy while in her coma.
Lauren didn't wake up until her son was almost 4 months old. She had suffered a stroke which had caused the coma and 2 smaller ones while in it. Her son is going to have a very hard time in school, it has yet been determined just how mentally challenge he will be. But the doctors are hopeful that he will only be slightly hindered by this and be able to lead a fairly normal life. This is because they were able to detox Lauren well before he was born.
As for Lauren, she has lost all sensation on the right side of her face and most of her movement abilities in her arm and leg.
My friend is now caring for both of them, Lauren is seen regularly by a therapist to hopefully gain more mobility so that she may be able to care for her own son. Receiving the proper treatment before pregnancy is most definatly ideal.

Alternative Drug Recovery Methods

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_lwofwioufj0/S0v65-QgC3I/AAAAAAAAABk/l7GWWF9HwPw/s400/magnetic-poetry1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5425706049969589106" />
There are several different types of drug addiction poems. They each assist the person by releasing pent up feelings and/or emotions that don't readily come forth in normal spoken word. Writing poetry is but one method of vocalizing these feelings. A few example include:

* Poetry written by an addict about the problems contributing to his/her addiction
* Poetry written by an addict about the effects of his/her addiction
* Poetry written by an addict about his/her steps toward recovery
* Poems written by friends and family members of the addict to express how they feel about his/her addiction
* Poems written by friends and family members of the addict to celebrate his/her steps toward recovery

(Type of poetry examples taken from Drug_Addiction_Poems)
Below is an example of poetry written by an individual during their recovery process:

There is a monster who lives in my head, He talks to me softly he wants me dead.
He tells me this time I'll stay in control. He tells me not to let anyone know.
He convinces me that no one cares, He whispers the pain is to much to bear.
He tells me how wonderful I will feel. He tells me he loves me and it is real.
He tells me not to call anyone, My heart starts racing, he tells me it will be fun.
He tells me not to think of past times, He promises I can do it just once this time
Who is this monster who calls me by name, RELAPSE, he waiting to start the game.

Another method of addiction treatment can be found in Coloring Therapy, the focus of meditation is easily attained through the activity of coloring itself. Coloring is used as a way to begin to quiet the mind, listen inwardly and open up to higher knowledge, healing, and creativity. This alternative to formal meditation practices can help people of all ages in recovery improve coping and awareness skills through an enjoyable activity. (www.coloringtherapy.com) This being a non-traditional way or a holistic form of addiction treatment.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_lwofwioufj0/S0v7Kmd3XjI/AAAAAAAAABs/Z5pNnFRvgKs/s400/color+therapy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5425706335640968754" />

Addiction recovery can be attained in many fashions, the most commonly used is of course treatment centers. Finding the best path to recover on depends on the individual afflicted and their best method of learning.

Drug Addiction to the Fullest

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_lwofwioufj0/SzFjuMFqOzI/AAAAAAAAABc/-94TBhIasq8/s400/Liquid+Drugs.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5418221471873514290" />

I found a really moving article that i am going to share below:

"I came from a good family although my parents divorced when I was 16. I always felt a void in my life just like most teenagers do. I decided to turn to try filling that emptiness with drugs.

I had my first child when I was 20
By the time my girls were 3 and 5 years old, I had started using meth.
years old. By the time my girls were 3 and 5 years old, I had started using meth. First I was snorting, smoking and finally shooting it in my arms. As a child I hated getting shots or blood drawn, but by this time I was allowing someone or myself to stick a needle in my arm.

When I began doing meth, I stayed up for about 4 days. I cleaned the floors on my hands and knees with a toothbrush. I cooked a lot of food, but would not eat. I tried to iron my curtains and I didn't know how to iron. I took my kids to soccer -- I felt like super mom.

When it wore off, I was so tired and sick and I had an intense craving for more. I went behind my husbands back to make contact with dealers to do my own supply, without anybody knowing it.

I got sneaky and very greedy. I kept running out of money and dope, so I started pawning stuff out of my house, and taking my kids piggy bank money that grandparents
"The authorities knew I was on meth because of the circle of people I ran with."
and people had given them. Then I started selling dope to supply my habit. People would hear I could get good dope, so I would take their money, buy a lot and give them a little out of it and sometimes I would just sell them cooked down cold pills.

My drug problem got worse and worse.

I lost so much weight, I looked like walking bones -- like death. My family and friends started noticing the weight loss and how bad I was looking so I started staying in my bedroom and covering up the windows. I was afraid of the police or strangers looking in at me.

Through these times I stayed in my bedroom and only came out occasionally to check on the kids. Sometimes I would stay up so many days and nights when I finally crashed out asleep, I slept for a couple of days or more. When I got up and I would be so tired, sick and craving more that I was useless to myself or anyone else.

Teachers at school
I kept running out of money and dope, so I started pawning stuff out of my house, and taking my kids'piggy bank money...
began to notice signs: The kids would be late to school, or I would be late picking them up or they wouldn't be there at all.

As my kids got older they began making excuses for me. They would tell people I was sick a lot or make up something else to say. I did not realize what I was doing to them.

By the time they were eight and five years old they were doing their own laundry and cooking their own food. I would come out of the bedroom to check on them ever so often. They were not allowed to stay at friend's houses because I had to have them at home to look out for me. They let me know who was pulling into our driveway every time. There were so many people always coming and going at our house.
When my friends came over everyone came in to my bedroom, that's where I was and we got high. When I was coming down, no one could be around me. I was so angry and so mean to everyone.

I didn't even
Charlotte, healthy and happy with her two daughters.
like myself. So, if I didn't have meth, I would chase it until I found it.

During this time one of the reasons my daughters were looking out for me was because the police had arrested me for bad checks, a violation of my probation. The authorities knew I was on meth because of the circle of people I ran with. They were always getting me for something, even stuff that dated back as far as eight years (like old tickets) just so they would have a reason to raid my house or to check me for drugs.

I have so many memories now of different times and places I've been, where I could have been killed and I have witnessed lot of bad things. My kids were so afraid. They seen the police arrest me so often they thought the police were the "bad guys". They would scream for them not to arrest me. I have heard them cry, "Please not my mommy," so many times. At the time it didn't affect me, but now it haunts me. They were so terrified and it was my fault."

After reading this with my friend i realized that its the exact situation i was in. Cliffside Malibu was recommended to me from a family member. The proper drug rehabilitation is defiantly the answer. Having such a professional, supportive, caring and professional staff is the answer. Thank you so much as i hope the story above helps others realize that its not simple but their is an answer out there you just have to be willing to have the WANT to change.

Dual Diagnosis Help

Cliffside Malibu is a licensed dual diagnosis residential treatment center where cutting edge, evidence-based psychotherapy and analysis meet world-class drug and alcohol addiction treatment, medically supervised detoxification and holistic medicine. Furthermore, with dual diagnosis, not only is the individual affected by two separate illnesses, but also each illness interacts with the other, potentially exacerbating symptoms on each side and predisposing the individual to relapse in each of the illnesses.

At times the symptoms associated with dual diagnosis can overlap and mask each other making diagnosis and treatment more difficult. Cliffside Malibu has created an exceptional team of medical and psychiatric doctors, psychologists, therapists, chemical dependency counselors, spiritual advisors, and fitness and nutrition experts to address the complex physical, emotional/mental and spiritual components of those with a dual diagnosis.

If you or a loved one is in need of immediate treatment for addictions and other problems associated with dual diagnosis, please call Cliffside Malibu today at 1-800-501-1988. Help is a phone call away.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_lwofwioufj0/SynkfZYxmbI/AAAAAAAAABM/APyWINngb_U/s400/3-drug-rehab-centers.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5416111254931610034" />

Extensive Dual Diagnosis Intake Process

Upon admission for a dual diagnosis condition, there is an extensive intake process, where information is gathered and the individual is compassionately welcomed into the home. From that point on, they then meet with their primary therapist who serves as a primary source of support and guidance throughout their treatment process, and who formulates an extensive clinical assessment based on the individual’s history, self-report, report from prior professionals and family members (as permitted by the individual) and based on the clinician’s observation and expertise. The individual also meets for an initial dual diagnosis evaluation with the psychiatrist who conducts an extensive psychiatric evaluation with the individual, again based on observation, history, self-report and report from other sources as is permitted.

The clinical team then collaborate throughout the individual’s treatment as the individual’s symptoms are stabilized, engaging in a process of differential diagnosing to methodically separate out the dual disorders and any overlap and exacerbation of co-occurring symptomatology, thereby establishing the most effective and appropriate course of treatment. This, of course, can take time, as a key part of treating dual diagnoses is allowing an individual to safely detox and stabilize before any conclusions are drawn, and the clinical team engages in the intensive assessment process while the person is removed from any external stressors in their life. The symptoms thereby come out in a sober environment and more pure form, allowing for more accurate assessment and diagnosis that ultimately informs the course that treatment takes in all its forms – psychiatrically and therapeutically.

Individual Treatment Plans Developed for our Residents

Therapeutically, we at Cliffside Malibu have created a compassionate, yet intensive environment to address the complexities of those with a dual diagnosis. We do not subscribe to traditional or cookie cutter methods of treating addiction or psychiatric disorders that presume all addiction and disorders can be treated the same, but instead recognize the distinct needs of those in this population and treat them accordingly. We incorporate motivational interviewing to engage the individual who may be in some degree of denial and not yet ready to address all elements of their diagnoses and we assist them in untangling these elements, allowing them to create a greater understanding of what is going on and how to move towards healing and recovery.

Group Therapy and Individual Therapy at Cliffside Malibu

Group therapy sessions for our dual diagnosis residents and our other addiction residents are offered three times per day and are comprised of the following: Experiential, Process, Art Therapy, Topic Groups, Life Assessment, Journaling, Spirituality, Boundary Power, 12 Step, and Relapse Prevention. The group experience can be a powerful vehicle, bringing a population of different cohorts, experiences and cultures together, thereby often creating a parallel process within the group dynamics where family of origin dynamics, life themes and issues underlying addiction and disorders such as depression and anxiety come to the surface allowing for direct intervention, interpretation and integration of the individual’s experience. The group also provides an avenue for individuals to grieve, to find resolve, to connect, and to learn healthy and more adaptive ways to cope versus utilizing previously learned maladaptive and self-harming means of coping.

Topic groups also provide a means to learn and empower oneself with knowledge of addiction, 12 step programs, psychological disorders and dual diagnosis. Furthermore, Individual Therapy is the clinical cornerstone at Cliffside Malibu where the individual meets a psychologist from three times per week to daily. A clinical assessment is created and specific treatment goals are thereby derived to effectively and systematically treat the symptoms, underlying causes, and short and long term goals for the individual within all domains of their life.

The clinical team of doctors and therapists all collaborate closely and continually throughout this dual diagnosis treatment period to be sure to treat the individual according to the intersection of medical and clinical data that are obtained through thorough extensive assessments and evaluations. Individual psychotherapy is then conducted with an integrated approach designed through the information gathered, and consists of a blend of intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, behavioral modification and systems family therapy, the latter addressing the entire family system and any boundary disturbances and roles that may be contributing to the individual’s dual diagnosis symptomatology.

Furthermore, Cliffside Malibu’s dual diagnosis treatment program offers step down levels of care beginning with primary treatment followed by extended care and then sober living. Each phase is structured according to the needs of the individual and allows for a slight reduction in structure each time and a gradual acclimation back to their life and society while still maintaining a strong focus on their recovery.

This Article was provided by Cliffside Malibu

I decided to research articles regarding Malibu Rehabs that will best suit my mothers needs and came across this aricle:

At Cliffside Malibu, a person’s drug treatment is chosen based on that individual and by their addiction. Sometimes the person who is addicted is in denial or just pure anger. I felt a great way for someone to heal is to talk about it and my Niece agreed with me. When she told me her story i felt it needed to be heard and told to other people as i know so many people that are addicted to Pharmaceutical drugs. Here is her story:

My story began at the age of 13. After being sexually assaulted and having no one to turn to, I walked into a teenage crisis center where I met with a therapist who evaluated me and diagnosed me with PTSD. I was having night terrors and couldn't have a normal relationship with anyone. I acted out, experimented with drugs, and had casual sex with random partners. My mother met with the therapist at the crisis center soon after where they decided to put me on a series of medications for my PTSD and panic attacks. One of them being Xanax. I started with Depakote, Mellaril, and Xanax. They then put me on several different SSRI's (anti depressants) which had no effect. I slipped further into depression and began abusing xanax. First it was just a half a MG a day, then it became 6 MG a day prescribed by a doctor. I was taking 10 MG a day. Even with all of the xanax I abused, I still would seek out people with percocet prescriptions and Vicoden, I'd eat them like candy. It got so bad I sliced my leg open so I could go to the emergency room and get morphine. I stole from my mom to get money for pain pills which I would buy off of the street. At the age of 23 I overdosed on Percocet and had to have my stomach pumped. It didn't stop me. In fact my situation got worse my mom kicked me out, I had nowhere to turn. I began sleeping with men for pills and a place to sleep, putting my life at risk. I wound up sleeping on the street and being picked up by a police officer and brought to my mother’s house. She didn't even recognize me anymore. I didn't recognize myself. I knew I needed help and getting arrested was a godsend. My mom researched different treatment centers and took me to several where they treated me like I was filth. Until I walked into Cliffside Malibu, my life has never been the same. When first approaching me the staff was so caring and understanding. The facility was so comfortable I felt like I was finally home and receiving the treatment that i needed. I had forgotten what it felt like to have people care about me. After the long hard battle of physical addiction passed, my personal therapist at Cliffside Malibu helped me to identify why I needed to feel numb and helped me overcome my emotional addiction. As of now I am in college, have a healthy relationship with my family, and am finally able to cope with what happened to me. I no longer need medication, I currently see a therapist appointed by Cliffside Malibu once a week and I owe my life to them.

Alcohol Addiction Recovery And Treatment

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 250px; height: 312px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_lwofwioufj0/Susi8owDubI/AAAAAAAAAAU/odqvxyKNlyY/s320/img_0046_o.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5398447003460155826" />

Addiction is in every way the hardest to get past. Addiction can take place with anything from shopping, drinking, drugs and gambling. Trying to get through an addiction is a difficult mind game. This morning i came across this article talking about "The worst case is that even the immature youth of 13 or 14 years of age consume alcohol without knowing the consequences." WOW! I remember my first drink i was young and my parents weren't home as they were both working. Alcohol is such easy access these days that its hard to keep it from our youth. This article really struck my interest after skimming through and reading that fact that i had to re read the article and let it sink in. I do want to help people with addictions to move forward in life. I want the feeling i have from this article to go through other people and make other people want to help others with addictions.

Alcohol Addiction Recovery And Treatment

Alcohol addiction is taking its toll every year in America. About 25 million people are being affected every year. The worst case is that even the immature youth of 13 or 14 years of age consume alcohol without knowing the consequences. Sooner or later, they become addict to alcohol. Alcohol addiction recovery
and treatment periods are the worst time that they have to face in their life time. It is not that easy to come out of the habit so easily. One needs to be mentally strong to win the battle. People who are in dire need of alcohol addiction recovery program have got umpteen numbers of choices from which they may select accordingly. Recovery programs must cater to the specific needs of the individual and it must not be generic. A good physician and a trained expert may help the person to find the best suited program for the addiction recovery.

Options To Ponder About: The program might generally consist of 3 general kinds. These 3 steps are intervention, detoxification and rehabilitation. People who are addicted to alcohol will not accept the fact that they need rehabilitation program
to revive the life style. They still justify their attitude towards alcoholism to be right. Hence they do not make up their mind to opt for a recovery program. Intervention is more confrontational since the drinkers would confront their excessive drinking. Alcohol abuse must be confronted with greater care.

Please follow this article HERE.

This article is so powerful and just makes me want to help others as i have gone through what kids are going through now.

<img style="float:left; An uncontrolled consumption of alcohol can lead to dependence or withdrawal tendencies often damaging or inescapable. Alcoholism treatment is a tough treatment as the addicted person has to be bought back to a sane and normal state of mind. Alcohol treatment programs are an effective way to break the cycle of the alcohol dependence.

Alcohol Rehab centers help you come out of this deadly addiction as it is said that Alcoholism is not just a disease but it kills. A person addicted to alcoholism cannot be alone held responsible for the havoc created in their own lives and lives of the people related to them.
